Bars slam on half dozen new inmates this week

MARTIN COUNTY - The Stanton Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety was busy last week arresting six people on eight different charges or violations.

All six suspects were booked into the Dan Saunders Law Enforcement Center in Martin County.

The most recent was the Sept. 8 arrest of Alexus Marie Alvarez, 20 of Big Spring. The Stanton Police Department picked her up on an Ector County Warrant for Exploitation of Child/Elderly/Disabled.

Just a day earlier, Stanton officers arrested Castro Jose Galindo, 63 of Midland, on charges of Driving while Intoxicated 3rd or more and Resisting Arrest. His bonds were set at $20,000 and $5,000 respectively.

On Sept. 4, DPS officers encountered Justin Smethers, 25 of Midland. He was taken into custody for Driving while Intoxicated and Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 greater than or equal to four grams but less than 200 grams.

Rafalita Patricia Almager, 38 of Levelland, was taken to jail for a Parole Violation and was given a No Bond.

Bernadette Vida Campos, 37 of Odessa, and Travis Ray Herrera-Holder, 30 of Stanton, were both arrested on Sept. 1 in different situations.

Campos was picked up by DPS for a Texas Department of Criminal Justice Warrant for Parole Violation. She was given a No Bond.

Herrera-Holder was arrested by Martin County Sheriff’s officers for Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 less than one gram.
