This year there will be no meal nor door prizes, just business items.

Abbott expands Texas reopening as cases decline

TEXAS - Gov. Greg Abbott eased restrictions placed on businesses during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, allowing many across the state to expand capacity. Bars, however, are still not permitted to reopen.

Businesses in 19 regions of the state where COVID-19 hospitalizations are below 15% can expand capacity from 50% to 75%. Abbott said three parts of the state, the Rio Grande Valley, Laredo and Victoria, remain in the danger zone and are not yet able to expand capacity.

These businesses include all retail, restaurants, offices, manufacturing, museums, libraries, and gyms.

All nursing homes, assisted living centers and state-supported living centers can once again offer visitation options as long as the facility complies with health protocols and does not have any active COVID-19 cases.

While hospitalizations and cases are on the decline, officials are seeing college towns emerge as new hotspots with cases growing among student populations.

Texas topped the 15,000 mark for deaths and the 700,000 threshold for cases.

Martin County is still at 77 total cases and six deaths with the officials active case count at one as of Sept. 23.
