STANTON - If you have driven past the Convent in the last months, you may have noticed all of the wonderful progress that has been made. The fence has been newly powder coated, the outside is freshly stuccoed, and a parking lot has been added with lighting.

While all of these outside additions and improvements towards restoration are amazing there is even more going on inside.

The original walls have been added back inside, there is heating and airconditioning that has been added, and a new staircase inside. As all of these pieces of the puzzle come together, the convent foundation is once again calling on the help of the community to complete the rest of the puzzle.

“We are nearing the completion of this process and it is time for us to start collecting as many of the original furnishings and artifacts as possible to display in the Monastery,” said Convent board president Reggie Baker. “We would tell the story what life was like during the days of the monks in the 1890’s. If you or someone you know happens to have any of the original furniture or items that would have been in the building at any time we would love to have them back either on loan or as a donation.”

“We want everyone to enjoy this wonderful treasure that we are privileged to have in our community,” added Baker. “Everyone should be able to have a glimpse into the beginnings of the great town we all hold dear. “
