Dear Savvy Senior, Is macular degeneration hereditary? My mother lost much of her vision from it before she died, and now at age 65, I’m concerned I may get it too. What can you tell me?

Courtney reunion to take place after parade

- Former classmates from the Courtney School will gather this weekend. There will be a sandwich meal celebrating all graduating classes and anyone that attended Courtney School. This will take place at the First Baptist Fellowship Hall after the parade.

Next farmers market set for July 16th

- Martin County Convent will be having a ‘‘Go for the Gold’’ Farmer's and Maker's market July 16th 6:00 to 8:00 PM. They will be celebrating the upcoming Olympics. Games for kids 12 and under will take place every half hour starting at 6:30.
