Young Wildcats finish third

STERLING CITY – The Grady Junior High boys basketball team finished third at the Sterling City Tournament last week.

Grady opened the tournament with a heart breaking 28-27 loss to host Sterling City.

The Eagles hit a free throw with five seconds left on the clock to win the game.

Kody Cates led Grady in scoring with 10 points. Hunter McAnally finished with eight points while Kellen Young and Matejo DeAnda tossed in five and four points respectively.

In the third place game against Irion County, Grady jumped out to a 13-6 lead and increased its advantage to 33-15 by halftime.

The Wildcats would let off the gas in the second half and cruise to a 42-21 win. Cates and McAnally led Grady with 13 and 12 points

Chapman Sims ended the game with 10 points followed by Young with three points, Blake Parker two points and DeAnda two points.
