Grady runs at Sands Relays prior to UIL postponement

ACKERLY - Grady’s high school track teams competed in the Sands Relays at Sands High School on March 12.

Grady finished fifth in the junior varsity boys team standings with 57.5 points.

Klondike won the meet with 145 points followed by Ropes in second with 113 and Borden County third with 80 points.

Garden City finished fourth with a total of 64 points and Sands was sixth, Loop placed seventh and O’Donnell

Blaise Warren was the junior varsity’s top athlete with 33 points earned. Second place totaled 26 points and third place had 24 points.

Warren was second in both the 200 meter and 400 meter with times of 26.28 and 59.14 respectively.

He was also second in the triple jump with a mark of 35-11 and he took gold in the high jump by clearing 5-00.

Quint Harrell was fifth in the 400 meter running a time of 1:06.19 and fifth in the 800 meter with a 2:43.90.

Austin Aaron captured gold in the 300 hurdles crossing the finish line in 50.89 and he took fourth in the 110 hurdles with a 20.82.

Bryson Kidd finished fifth in the long jump with a leap of 15-02.50 and Cobe Cortez placed sixth in the shot put with a mark of 30-09.50.

In the discus, Fabian Cruz was fifth with a throw of 85-10 and in the high jump Harrel finished fifth clearing 4-10.

Grady’s varsity boys team placed eighth in the standings with 44 points.

Ropes won the meet while Garden City and Klondike took second and third.

In the 100 meter, Hayes was fifth with a 12.25 while in the 200 Cristian Jimenez was with a 23.85 and Frankie Jimenez placed fourth running a 25.48.

C. Jimenez earned his second silver medal in the 400 meter with a one lap time 52.41 and F. Jimenez placed fifth with a 56.33.

Grady’s 4x100 Relay team of Caden Hayes, F. Jimenez, Isaiah Ontiveros, and C. Jimenez placed fourth in a time of 46.19.

Jackson Welch had a good day earning two bronze medals in the high jump and shot put with marks of 5-08 and 38-01.50.

Grady’s varsity girls totaled 65 points to placed fifth in the team standings.

The top three teams were Garden City, Ropes, and Borden County.

In the race for top athlete, Sydney Gonzales placed fourth with 24 points.

She earned a gold medal in the triple jump with a mark of 32-03.50 and another gold medal in the pole vault by

clearing 8-06.

She was part of the third place 4x200 relay team of Breanna Garza, Skye Shock, Gonzales, and Cristina Dyck the ran a 2:00.07.

She was also sixth in the 100 hurdles running a 17.99.

Garza placed fourth in the 100 with a 14.19 and Dyck was second in the 100 hurdles running a 17.15 and she was fourth in the triple jump flying 29-01.50.

Yareli Rodriguez placed fourth in the 800 and fifth in the 1600 with times of 2:56.33 and 6:26.02 respectively.

In the discus, Delaney Saunders took fourth with a throw of 75-04.25 and Merced Jimenez was fifth with a heave of 74-06.25.
