Klondike overwhelms Grady 58-8

KLONDIKE - The crowd at Friday’s contest between the Klondike Cougars and the Grady Wildcats saw Klondike’s football team beat Grady by a score of 58-8.

The Cougars were supposed to blow Grady out by halftime but the Wildcat’s played a near perfect first half to only trail 22-6 at halftime.

Klondike scored five more touchdowns in the second half to end the game at the 3:30 mark in the fourth quarter.

Grady’s lone touchdown was the first score of the game when Hunter McAnally threw a strike to Cobe Cortez for a nine yard score. Arath Alarcon added the point after attempt.

Also contributing to the passing game was Caden Hayes who completed seven passes for 96 yards.

Grady’s leading receiver was Cooper Wallin hauling in one pass for 31 yards. Isaiah Ontiveros had two receptions for 24 yards and McAnally caught one pass for eight yards.

Cortez finished the game with three receptions for 15 yards and one touchdown.

Hayes was the only Wildcat to do any damage on the ground gaining 10 yards.

Grady’s defense was led by Hayes with seven tackles and Ontiveros and Alarcon with six tackles each.

McAnally and Kody Cates totaled five tackles each while Wallin racked up four tackles.

Hunter Blaylock ended the game with two tackles and Cortez tallied one tackle.

The Wildcats fall to 0-3 on the season. They next travel to Bronte on Sept. 18 at 7:30 pm. Grady will play a Longhorns squad coming off a 54-6 loss to Roby The Longhorns record now stands at 1-2.
