Pecos captures lead early to defeat Stanton Lady Buffs Varsity

PECOS - Stanton Lady Buffs Varsity fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 10-2 loss to Pecos on Friday.

Pecos opened the game with three runs in the first inning scoring on a triple and two doubles.

Stanton struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Pecos, giving up two runs in the second inning and three more runs inthe fourth inning.

Pecos’s scored three runs in the fourth inning came thanks to a home run and a double.

Mikah Kargl was in the pitcher's circle for Stanton Lady Buffs Varsity. She pitched six full innings, allowing ten runs on 13 hits, striking out seven and walking one.

Stanton Lady Buffs Varsity piled up nine hits on the day.

Zoey Ruiz and Julissa Ramirez each racked up multiple hits for Stanton

Ruiz went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Buffs in hits.

Stanton Lady Buffs Varsity didn't commit a single error in the field. Ramirez had five chances in the field, the most on the team.

Ruiz and Ramirez accounted for Stanton’s two runs in the third inning.

Lilliana Rodriguez accounted for both of Stanton’s RBIs and Analiese Gonzales led the Lady Buffs with four walks.

Stanton will host the next two games against Seagraves and Sonora respectively.

The Lady Eagles will come to town on Saturday with the varsity starting at 12 and the junior varsity following immediately after.

The Lady Broncos will roll into Stanton on Tuesday with the first varsity pitch set to be thrown at 5 p.m. Again, the junior varsity game will immediately follow.
