Stanton freshman golfer headed to Regional meet

BIG SPRING – The Stanton Buffaloes will be represented at the Region I-AAA Golf Tournament following two good rounds by freshman Brayden Doshier at the District 5-3A Golf Tournament, Wednesday at Comanche Trail Golf Course.

Doshier, playing as a medalist, finished fourth with a first round score of 86 and a second round of 96. His two round total of 182 qualified for regionals, as one of the top two individuals on a non-qualifying team.

The Coahoma A team shot a 381-378—759 to win the District Tournament

Coahoma A was led by Ryan Shifflett, who won medalist honors by firing an 86-92—178.

Shifflett was tied for first with Crane’s Donny Bishop (90-88—178) after 36 holes, but won a playoff to capture the District 5-3A individual title.

Bishop will also be going to regional as an individual on a non-qualifying team.

Coahoma A and second-place Odessa Compass Academy (387-395—782) are the two teams that will represent the district at regionals.

The Region I-3A Boys Golf Tournament will be Apr. 19 and 20 at Shady Oaks Golf Course in Baird.

Representing the Lady Buffs at District were Jordyn Keeton, Neely Poitevint, and Emilee Day.

Keeton finished with a 206, Poitevint shot a 217, and Day ended with a two day total of 240.
