MARTIN COUNTY - Stanton and Grady football players will report for the first day of practice on Aug. 2.
The first week will be strictly conditioning and noncontact activities. No contact equipment except for helmets will be worn during these practices.
Starting on Aug. 7, Stanton and Grady will move into full contact practices in preparation for the first scrimmages.
Stanton will scrimmage Slaton at home on Aug. 13 starting at 6:30 p.m. and Grady will travel to Sands to scrimmage the Mustangs on Aug. 13 at 5 p.m.
Stanton’s second scrimmage will be in Lamesa on Aug. 19 with the first play set to be run at 6:30 p.m.
Grady’s second scrimmage is to be determined.
And finally, the recordable games begin on Aug. 27 for both teams.
Stanton will start its season on the road at Grape Creek with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
Grady begins its season with homefield advantage as Highland comes to town for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
Games of note:
Stanton’s Homecoming will be Sept. 3 against Merkel at 7:30 p.m.
The first district game will be Oct. 8 at Lubbock Roosevelt t at 7:30 p.m.
Grady’s Homecoming is set for Sept. 17 against Bronte at 7:30 p.m.
The first district game will be Oct. 22 against Rankin at Rankin at 7:30 p.m.
