Grady loses to Garden City

GARDEN CITY – The game started in spectacular fashion for Grady but ended in crushing defeat as No. 7 Garden City rolled to a 57-8 victory Friday night at Bearkat Stadium in Garden City.

Grady took the opening kick-off and drove the ball right over Garden City. Gunner Cherry did most of the hard work chewing up big chunks of yards. Hunter McAnally capped the drive with a one-yard touchdown pass to Cooper Wallin. Marcus Brown added the extra point kick to put Grady up 8-0.

Garden City answered with a quick touchdown and two-point kick to tie the game at 8-8.

Grady would take it’s second possession and start putting the pieces of a nice drive together. Unfortunately for Grady on an important on third down, Bearkat nose guard Owen Seidenberger blew up the play and dropped Cherry for a loss in the backfield. From that moment on Grady’s offense had lost all momentum and could hardly muster any more yards.

The Bearkats rode the train of momentum for seven more touchdowns and cruised to a state playoff berth with a 57-8 win.

Grady looks to wrap up the football season on Friday with a win over Midland TLCA at 7:30 p.m. at M.W. Tunnell Field in Grady.
