STANTON – The PBYFL Stanton Junior Buffaloes had a perfect first round of the playoffs with all four teams advancing to this weekend’s second round.
The Flag Buffaloes finished second in the regular season which earned them a first round bye. They will play the Greenwood Outlaws this Saturday at 10:30am at Buffalo Stadium in Stanton.
The Freshman Buffaloes dominated the Pecos Eagles 33-6 in their opening round game.
Stanton scored on five of its six possessions with Ryder Greene accounting for four touchdowns and Kannon Medrano scoring one.
Medrano had two completed conversion passes. The first went to Noah Holguin and the second went to Greene.
On defense, Tim Hinojosa recovered a fumble.
Also have big games for the Buffs were Case Morrison, Noah Hernandez, Jordan Ramos, Aiden Dominguez, and X’Zavier Cordova.
Next up for the Freshman will be the Compass Cougars this Saturday at 3pm at Buffalo Stadium in Stanton.
The Junior Varsity Buffaloes destroyed Andrews Elite 32-0.
On offense, Angel De Lachuga, Santiago Martinez, Mason Barrera, and Camden Terry scored one rushing touch-down each. Barrera also threw a touchdown pass to Wes Moreno and had a conversion pass to Julian Castillo.
Other big plays in the game had De Lachuga recovering an onside kick, Gunner Gleghorn recovering a fumble, Terry recovering a fumble, Martinez recovering a fumble, and Castillo forcing a fumble.
Also playing well were Santiago Sadler, Aiden Kubicek, Rayden Hinojosa, and Levi Rodgers.
This Saturday the Junior Varsity will play the Compass Cougars at 12pm at Buffalo Stadium in Stanton.
The final game of the day had the Varsity Buffaloes pile driving Andrews 28-0.
Mason Martinez had an amazing game scoring three touchdowns and running in a conversion.
Kort Morrison scored a touchdown for Stanton and Nic Issemann ran in a conversion. Austin Salgado threw a con-version pass to Hagan Hale.
Recovering an onside kick was Tyler Gerstemeier.
Also having big performances were JoeAngel Padron, Karter Barrera, and Samuel Carrasco.
Stanton’s second round game will be Saturday against the Andrews Mustangs at 6pm at Greenwood High School.
