Stanton Junior Buffaloes wrap up seasons winning championship, third

STANTON - The Stanton Junior Buffaloes Flag and Junior Varsity teams each avenged losses from earlier in the season to bring home a championship trophy and a third place trophy from last Saturday’s Permian Basin Youth Football League playoff games

The Division II Flag Buffaloes burned up the field against the Snyder Tigers. When the smoke had cleared, Stanton was crowned champion for the second time in three years with a 24-12 performance.

The Most Valuable Player Award went to Jonathan Cates who finished with three touchdowns.

Members of the champion flag team are coaches Robbie Noland, Ransom Parks, Emilio Villa, and Ryan O’Donnell. Players Kaison Cordova, Jonathan Cates, Aubree Sanchez, RJ Parks, Easton Villa, Emmanuel Correa, Carson Rangel, Mason Salgado, Swayde Duncan, Santos Espinoza, Rustin O’Donnell, Braxton Noland, Trevor Koonce, Michael Quinones, Elias Aviles, Kade Poynor, Ian Ritchie, and Elijah Hinojosa.

The Division II Junior Varsity Buffaloes relied upon a stingy defense and a couple big offensive drives to claim a 12-6 third place victory over the Big Spring Steers.

Members of the third place junior varsity team are coaches Alex Shafer and Bobby Barrera. Players Aaron Saddler, Aiden Kubicek, Angel Lechuga, Anthony Hignojos, Boston Aragonez, Branson Keys, Luke Bastillos, Camden Terry, Carter Whiteface, Christopher Holguin, Domonic Rios, Emilio Garcia, Erick Correa, and Quadyn Cazares.

Also Evan Butler, Gunner Gleghorn, Jacob Hernandez, Julian Castillo, Kevin Tarin, Levi Rodgers, Maximus Garcia, Mayson Barrera, Rayden Hinojosa, Santiago Martinez, Santiago Saddler, Tristyn Williams, Wes Moreno, Whitt Still, Wesley Marquez, Donald Olivas, and Andres Castillo.
