GARDEN CITY - The Garden City Bearkats picked up a nice win over a much larger school on Tuesday, 3A Grape Creek.
The Bearkats defense was staggering in the first quarter not allowing Grape Creek a single point. This gave the Garden City offense the opportunity to build a halftime lead of 17-10.
The third quarter was dominated by Garden City with a 14-2 run that stretched the Bearkats lead to 28-12 with eight minutes to play.
Grape Creek managed a couple trash baskets at the end of the game to close the scoring at 35-21.
Walker and Talamantes led the Bearkats in scoring with nine and eight points respectively.
Roe ended the game with five points while Seidenberger and Lopez tossed in four points each .
Jones helped the team with three points and Walts chipped in with two points.
Garden City will be in Highland this week for the Hornet Invitational. First round starts today and wraps up Saturday.
