GRADY – Tuesday night’s game between Grady and Crane was a thriller with the Wildcats rallying to beat the Golden Cranes 49-43.
The first half was a close contest, but Crane was slightly better taking a 21-16 halftime lead.
Grady would go down by double digits early in the second half, but then the offense came to life and cut the Golden Cranes advantage to one point by the end of the third quarter.
With the lead in sight, Grady finally topped the hill with 2:30 left in the game and never looked back. Almost perfect free throw shooting in the final minute clinched Grady’s victory.
“This was a fun and exciting game. I am so proud of the fight in our kids. This was a team effort by all the players,” said Grady coach Chris Short. “We were able to outscore Crane 33-22 in the second half. This was great because 4 of our 5 losses all came in the fourthquarter this season. Down the stretch our kids played well. We are starting to find our identity.”
Quint Harrell led Grady with a season high 18 points with 10 of those coming in the fourth quarter. Logan Aaron added 14 while scoring six down the stretch.
Chapman Sims tossed in nine points including two important free throws in the fourth quarter. Austin Aaron, Blaise Warren, Kody Cates, and Cooper Wallin chipped in with two points each.
Grady improved to 3-5 on the season and will be at the Garden City Bearkat Booster Klassic this week.
