GARDEN CITY – The varsity Bearkats finished the Garden City Klassic Basketball Tournament with two wins and two losses.
The tournament opener against Water Valley was a lastminute thriller. The game was close throughout, but Garden City managed a couple more field goals in the fourth quarter for a 37-34 victory.

John Lopez: 11 points, 12 rebounds
Mason Walker: 10 points, 11 rebounds
Next up were the Odessa Compass Academy Cougars. Odessa used a fast-paced offense and high-pressure defense to take an early lead.
Garden City battled back to make the game interesting, but some missed free throws allowed Compass Academy the 55-52 win.

The Bearkats followed up with a really nice performance against Midland High’s junior varsity. Tons of points were scored but it wasn’t enough as the Bulldogs won 66-61.

The final game of the tournament was a blow out of Buena Vista. Garden City jumped out to an early lead and never looked back crushing the Bears 58-32.
