STANTON – The Stanton junior high boys’ basketball teams have had a busy December.
The seventh grade ‘B’ team opened the year with a 28-5 win over Crane
Scoring for Stanton were Campos 12, Garcia 6, Walker 5, Phillips 2, Lozano 2, and Bernal 1.
Then the Buffs lost a tough battle to Reagan County 11-7.
Scorers were Garcia 3, Lozano 2, and Walker 2.
On Monday the Buffs fell to Odessa Compass 17-9.
Campos led the team with 4 while Phillips had 2, Garcia 2, and Bernal 1.
The seventh grade ‘A’ team opened the year with a 40-20 victory over Crane.
Hinojosa was high point with 16 followed by Dominguez with 6, Glover 6, Salgado 6, Garcia 4, and McCain 2.
Stanton then beat Reagan County 18-10.
Scoring for the Buffs were Hinojosa 6, Dominguez 4, Salgado 4, Salcido 2, and Glover 2.
On Monday Stanton slipped past Odessa 27-25.
Point leader for Stanton was Hinojosa with 10 while Garza added eight.
Also scoring were Dominguez 4, Salgado 3, and Glover 2.
The eighth grade ‘A’ team ran into a very good Compass team on Monday and lost 38-17.
Scorers were Bennetly 6, McCain 4, Fisher 3, Bruner 2, and Webb 2.
