STANTON – The Stanton Junior High girls basketball teams have been busy the past couple days with games against Coahoma and Odessa Compass.
On Jan. 24, Stanton took on the Coahoma Bulldogs.
The seventh grade ‘A’ team started the game strong and held on to win 22-17.
Addison C. led Stanton in scoring with 11 points and Katarina R. added four points.
Lily R, Bailey B, and Marissa V, tallied two points each wile Ryleigh R had one point.
The B’ team also had a strong performance beating Coahoma 24-14.
Madison B led Stanton with six points while McKenzie H, Loli, Uvia, and Mila, added four each.
Christina S had two points.
Both eighth grade teams had rough nights.
Coahoma first beat the ‘B’ team 20-15.
Z. Martel led Stanton with eight points followed by G. Bustillos with four, O. Mitchell two, and N. Duarte one.
Then the Bulldogs bested the ‘A’ team 32-12.
E. Barnes was high point for the Buffs with five and K. Madison scored three.
A. Barrera and L. Smith had two points each.
On Jan. 31, the two ‘A’ teams were in action against Odessa Compass.
The seventh grade destroyed Compass 42-12.
Katarina R finished with a game high 15 points and Marissa V added 10.
Bailey B posted eight points followed by Lily R with four, Tarynne two, Ryleigh R. two, and Kaylee R. one.
The eighth grade picked up a nice win, beating Odessa 18-7.
High point for the Buffs was M. Melton with six and E Barnes added three.
Smith, A. Glover, and Madison scored two points each while Vasquez, Barrera, and M. Mabry had one point each.
