ODESSA — The Garden City and Grady golf teams competed in the District 8-A Tournament on Monday at Ratliff Ranch in Odessa.
Both the Garden City boys and girls team won the district title and qualified for Regionals.
The boys finished with a first place total of 408 strokes.
Walton Marshall led the Bearkats with a round of 94. Which was good enough to finish second.
Brock Braden placed fourth with a 99 followed by Brody Hoescher in sixth with a 104, Evan Fuchs seventh shooting a 111, Blain Walts came in 13th overall and third place as a medalist with his 128, and Mason Halfmann finished 15th with a round of 129.
Garden City’s Lady Kats took the team title with a total of 407 strokes.
Rylee Wood was not only the team leader, but the District 8 champion, with a staggering low round of 89.
Briana Halfmann put together a nice round 104 to claim third place and Shelby Braden posted a 105 to finish fifth. Kara Roberts and Amber Schwartz rounded out the team scores shooting a 109 and 125 to finish sixth and eighth respectively.
For the Grady Wildcats, Braden Welch continued his impressive season by shooting an 89 and winning the District 8 medalist crown and qualifying for Regionals.
The Region I Class A Golf Tournament will be Apr. 18 and 19 at the Reese Golf Center in Lubbock.
The dates and places for the State Tournamnet are:
Boys - May 9-10, Plum Creek Golf Course
Girls - May 16-17, Plum Creek Golf Course
