STANTON - When the UIL released the 2022 District Alignments, Stanton ISD was not pleased with it’s basketball district and the amount of travel that would be required.
Stanton was originally aligned in District 3, which was a northern district that would have required multiple road trips of over 200 miles.
Three hours on a bus in the middle of a school week was not in the Buffaloes best interest.
The administration and coaching staff appealed the re-alignment and the UIL released its decision last week.
Stanton basketball will now be part of District 4 and head west to play: Alpine, Crane, Kermit, Odessa Compass Academy, Presidio, and Tornillo.
Football will stay the same, District 4 Division II with: Abernathy, Coahoma, Idalou, Littlefield, and Lubbock Roosevelt.
The Buffaloes cross county district will be District 4: Alpine, Crane, Kermit, Odessa Compass Academy, Presidio, and Tornillo.
Basetball and Softball will be District 3: Brownfield, Denver City, Lamesa, Littlefield, and Muleshoe.
Sping Athletics will move Stanton back out west in District 4 with: Alpine, Crane, Kermit, Odessa Compass Academy, Presidio, and Tornillo.
