LUBBOCK - Grady senior Braden Welch finished fifth overall at the Regional Golf Tournament at Meadow Brook Golf Course in Lubbock on April 18 and 19.
Welch shot a first round 84, followed by a second round 86 for a two day total of 170.
His score placed him second in medalist standings and qualified for the Class A State Golf Tournament in Kyle on May 9 and 10 at Plum Creek Golf Course.
“I was very proud of Braden, those were tough conditions (wind) both days,” said coach Chris Short. “He held his composure and was able to get the job done for his third trip to the state golf tournament.”
Welch qualified for state his Freshman, Junior, and Senior years. He did not get to participate in his Sophomore year because of COVID.
