Booth collects five hits as Stanton Buffaloes Varsity defeats Crane

CRANE - Adam Booth had a busy day at the plate on Friday, smacking five hits in Stanton’s 21-9 victory over Crane. Booth singled in the first, singled in the third, singled in the fourth, singled in the sixth, and singled in the seventh.

Stanton earned the victory despite allowing Crane to score five runs in the sixth inning. T Sanchez, K Gravens, and P Smith all drove in runs in the frame.

Crane opened up an early lead in the second inning when Jaxon Willis drew a walk, scoring one run.

The Buffaloes responded and took the lead for good with five runs in the third inning. In the third Booth singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs, Aaron Montez doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, and Colby Carson doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.

Stanton tallied nine runs in the sixth inning. The Buffaloes batters contributing to the big inning included Jaedyn Martinez, Montez, Aiden Hinojosa, Aidan Galaviz, Booth, and Martinez, all driving in runs in the inning.

Carson was the winning pitcher for Stanton. He allowed 12 hits and nine runs over six innings, striking out three. Micah Hinojosa threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. Hinojosa recorded the last two outs to earn the save.

Sanchez took the loss for Crane. The pitcher lasted one and one-third innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out one.

Willis started the game for Crane. He surrendered nine runs on ten hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out nine

Stanton scattered 20 hits in the game. Booth, Montez, Carson, Hinojosa, and Galaviz all managed multiple hits for Stanton Buffaloes Varsity. Booth led Stanton Buffaloes Varsity with five hits in five at bats. Stanton Buffaloes Varsity tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Booth led the way with seven.

Crane totaled 12 hits. Smith, B Alexander, and Gravens all managed multiple hits for Crane.
