COAHOMA - The Stanton Buffaloes 8U all-star baseball team destroyed each team they played against in the Coahoma All-Star Tournament last weekend.
First up on the schedule were two pool play games on Saturday.
Stanton opened with a perfect 21-0 performance against Roscoe.
In the second game Stanton was again perfect on offense scoring 21 runs, but Lamesa managed to find some gaps to score seven runs.
With two amazing games played on Saturday, Stanton earned a first round bye in bracket play on Sunday.
The first game on Sunday was the semi-final against Roscoe.
Stanton’s was hitting with boom sticks as the baseball was jumping off the bats.
Roscoe did better than the first time but still came up way short as Stanton cruised 23-3.
In the Championship, the Buffaloes would face another hard hitting team in Sweetwater.
Sweetwater was the second seed in the bracket and had been destroying every team they played.
What looked to be an exciting game on paper quickly turned into another Stanton blowout.
The Buffs tacked seven runs on the board after the first inning.
Sweetwater hit the ball hard but the Buff’s defense was spectacular and had three outs quick.
Stanton would continuie it’s perfect streak with another seven runs in the second inning.
Sweetwater managed to get on the board with a couple runs.
In their third at bat, the Buffs continued finding gaps and hole for another seven runs.
Sweetwater took one last shot at cracking the Buffs defense but failed and Stanton won the game 21-3.
Stanton’s run in the tournament was amazing outscoring its opponents 86- 13 and winning the title and the golden rings.
Members of the team are Nathan Wiebe, Kase Cook, Brooks Fryar, Kannon Medrano, Ryder Greene, Brooks Black, Noah Holguin, Case Morrison, Jacob, Ryker Dolan, Aidan Dominguez, and Kagen McNabb.
