MIDLAND – Grady’s junior high and high school cross country teams made the trip to Midland last weekend to compete in the Tall City Invitational at Hogan Park.
The varsity girls, junior high girls, and junior high boys ran two miles and the varsity boys ran 5000 meters.
“Midland meet is a tough meet with a lot of big schools and a lot of runners. I thought all the runners did a great job of competing. We set some good times and we will keep working to improve those times,” said coach Jym Dennis.
The varsity girls finished fourth as a team. Emma Parker led the Lady Cats finishing 15th followed by Raegan Dennis in 22nd and Rylan O’Donnell in 27th. Samantha Griffin crossed the finish line in 42nd while Alyssa Oviedo was 58th, Aislynne Mendoza was 80th, and Mia Najera placed 106th.
In the varsity boys division, Grady placed 10th as a team and was led by Hagan O’Donnell who finished 9th with a time of 19:05.
Nick Hamm ran a 20:15 which placed him 26th followed by Blake Parker in 45th, Hunter Blaylock in 57th, and Truman Stack in 93rd.
The Grady Juni High girls were fifth in the team standing led by Brynlee Madison in 14th. Davalynne Mendoza and Macie Stack ran good races placing 17th and 19th respectively.
Sadie Wallin nd the day 35th while Adalynn Peugh came in 82nd and Rebecca Rodriguez was 124th.
The Grady Junior High Boys finished 9th as a team.
Logan Rodriguez was Grady’s top runner finishing 32nd. Lane Cearley placed 34th and Cole Dennis was 48th.
Adrian Mata, Michael Griffin, and Titus Ashmore were 54th, 56th, and 58th respectively while Micah Mann placed 62nd, Nate Senn 98th, Kipton Weibe 122nd, and Colt Titsworth 169th. “I was very proud of all the boys that participated in the Tall City Invitational Cross Country Meet this past Satur-day. This was our first meet of the year and everyone did well,” stated coach Chris Short.
