GARDEN CITY – No. 9 Garden City picked up two more wins this past week.
On Friday, No. 17 Grady and No. 9 Garden City, went head-to-head again just three days after Garden City won a nail biter at the Bearkat Klassic.
Garden City took advantage of Grady not making a single field goal in the first quarter for a 9-1 lead. Then, a last second putback by Garden City’s Mason Walker ended the first half with the Bearkat’s leading 25-14.
The third quarter was all Garden City as the offense nailed four buckets from downtown increasing the advantage to 46-26 with eight minutes to play.
Grady tried putting the Bearkats on the line, but Garden City was up to the task shooting 6 of 6 from the charity stripe and winning the game 58-36.
Garden City’s Texas Brinkley was high point for the game with 16. He had two three-pointers and was a perfect 6 of 6 from the free throw line.
John Lopez finished the game with 12 points and three three-pointer while Julio Talamantes tossed in 11 points, one three-pointer, and a perfect 6 of 6 from the foul line.
Also scoring for the Bearkats were Walker with eight points, Kamdyn Roe seven, Logan Seidenberger two, and Garcia two.
Grady was led by Quint Harrell with 11 points and three three-pointers. Chapman Sims scored eight points followed by Austin Aaron with five, Colt Carson four, Blaise Warren three, Hagan O’Donnell three, and Daulton Sanders two.
On Tuesday, Garden City was lights out from beyond the arc picking up a 65-50 win over Roscoe.
The Bearkats stared with a 15-10 first quarter performance then exploded for 22 second qquarter points and a 37-17 halftime lead.
Third quarter action had both teams topping 20 points before Garden City pulled back on the points and cruised to the 15-point victory.
Garden City nailed 13 three-pointers and just 7 twopoint field goals. Then the Bearkats added a 12 of 17 free throw performance.
Julio Talmantes was on fire with a game high 22 points. John Lopez and Texas Brinkley also had double digit points scoring 14 and 12 respectively.
Logan Seidenberger tossed in seven points followed by Kamdyn Roe with five, Mason Walker three, and Garcia two.
