- The District 8-1A Track Meet was held in Sands and the Grady Wildcats and Lady Cats had a great showing, rising to the occasion and performing better than they have all year.
With such great performances, the Wildcats were able to win the Team District Championship by scoring 190 Points. The Wildcats beat out Klondike with 159 Points and Sands with 120 Points.
The Lady Cats finished 2nd overall. There were 10 Lady Cats competing on the varsity level and they racked up 131 points, just 10 points behind Klondike.
“We had a shot at winning the meet and came up just a little short,” stated coach Jym Dennis. “The girls competed well in all their events. I was proud of their effort and all the work that they put in to get to this point.”
Grady will compete in the Area Track Meet on April 14, at Lubbock Cooper. The meet will start at 9 am.
