- After an amazing day of tennis at the Region I Meet in Levelland on Apr. 9 and 10, Grady High School qualified two players for the state tennis tournament.
Samantha Griffin was the best girls singles player and was crowned Region 1 Tennis Champion.
Chapman Sims was one of the top players in the boy’s division and claimed Region 1 Tennis Runner-Up.
“I was very proud of all six regional qualifiers that participated in Levelland. All these kids represented Grady very well,” said Grady coach Chris Short.

Mixed Doubles
Jr. Aspen and Fr. Knight Durham had a tough 1st round draw with the # 2 seed from Whiteface. They lost 1-6, 1-6 Girls Doubles
Freshman Raegan Dennis and Amaia Najera won their first match beating Forth Elliot 6-3, 6-3. Lost their 2nd match to Nazareth 0-6, 3-6.

1st Rd. defeated Goytia from Hartley 6-2, 6-0 2nd rd. defeated Stansell from Borden Co. 6-2, 6-0 semi. defeated Ramirez for Patton Springs 6-3, 6-2 Championship defeated #1 seed Friemel from Groom 6-4, 6-2 Boys Singles Sims
1st Rd. defeated Schacher from Naz. 6-0, 6-0
2nd rd. defeated Maeaurer from Spur 6-4, 6-3 Semi. defeated Lewis from Borden Co. 6-2, 6-0 Championship lost to # 1 seed Sperry from Happy 6-2, 4-6, 2-6 Both Griffin and Sims will play in the State Tennis Tournament April 25-26 in San Antonio.
