Grady remains at top of district standings

KLONDIKE – Grady finds itself at the top of the District 4-1A standings with a pair of wins this week. The road game with Klondike last Friday was much closer than the final score showed. Grady used a big first quarter to go up 15-10 and increased their cushion to 2518 after halftime.

Junior High Lady Cats pick up a bunch of wins

ACKERLY – Grady’s Junior High girls Gold team played in the Sands Junior High Tournament last weekend. The Gold team went 2-1 in the tournament with wins over Lorenzo and O’Donnell. Both junior high teams were back in action this week with games against Loop, O’Donnell, and Sands.
Grady’s varsity boys have been unstoppable lately posting wins by double figures and limbing to the top of the district standings. A win Friday over Sands puts the Wildcats in the driver’s seat for the district crown.

Junior High Lady Buffs split with Compass

STANTON – Stanton’s junior high girls took on Odessa Compass last week and split with the Lady Cougars. The seventh grade struggled in the first and third quarter with no points giving Odessa a 32-15 victory.

Grady junior varsity girls have busy two weeks

GRADY – Grady’s junior varsity girls have played five games over the last two weeks. The Lady Cats lost to Sands at home 44-12 in a district contest. They were led by K’Lynn Garcia with 6 points, followed by Davalynne Mendoza with four and Kynnedi Satelo with two.

Stanton junior high competes in Greenwood Tourney

GREENWOOD – All four Stanton Junior High girls’ basketball teams competed in the Greenwood Tournament last weekend winning eight of the 10 games. Starting with the seventh grade ‘B’ team, the Lady Buffs won both games. Greenwood put up a great fight but Stanton pulled out the victory.

Lady Wildcats pick up three district wins

GRADY – Grady’s varsity girls finished up the first half of district losing a close game to Sands 32-28 and then defeating Wellman 49-32. They hosted Dawson last Tuesday to start the second half of district play and followed by splitting a pair of games with Klondike and Loop.

Stanton powerlifters compete in Sundown meet

SUNDOWN – Stanton Powerlifters were in Sundown over the weekend and the Lady Buffs placed second and the Buffaloes were fourth. Individual results (squat, bench, deadlift, and total). Girls Division Weight Class 105 2. Paisley Carby (190, 95, 180 – 465) Weight Class 114 2.

Irion County holds on to beat Garden City 37-29

GARDEN CITY - The Garden City Lady Kats continue their fight for a playoff spot but fell short on Tuesday against Irion County. The Lady Kats kept pace with Irion County in each quarter but was outscored by a couple buckets each time.

GRADY – Grady’s junior high Wildcats put on a defensive showcase on Jan. 22 against Loop at Grady. The Wildcats jumped out to a 15-8 lead after the first quarter and increased their advantage to 31-10 by halftime.
