Junior high Cats struggle with early games

GRADY– The Grady Junior High Wildcats had a rough start to the basketball season with losses to Dawson and Klondike. Against Dawson, Grady had a slow first half falling behind 16-6. The Wildcats kept pace in the second half but Dawson went on to win 26-15. “We struggled shooting the ball.

Lady Cats off to perfect start

GARDEN CITY- The Garden City Lady Kats have started their season 2-0 after defeating the Iraan Braves and the Wink Lady Cats. The Lady Kats defeated Wink Tuesday, jumping out to a 33-15 halftime lead and cruising to a 55-30 victory. Karly Baker led Garden City with 16 points.
Grady’s varsity cross country teams won plenty of hardware at the district contest. The varsity girls finished fourth on Monday at the Region I meet in Lubbock and the boys were seventh.

Coahoma proved just too much for Stanton

STANTON - It was a n interstate rivalry game with big playoff implications and one team just played better than the other. Coahoma and Stanton faced off in a District 4-3A battle with the winner inching closer to the playoffs. The Bulldogs started fast scoring 35 points in the first half.
Grady’s first State Qualifier for the 2023-24 school year is Briley Harrell. She received a Gold rating in Solo Twirling. She will compete at State in the spring.

Lady Wildcats cross country qualifies for state meet Nov. 3

LUBBOCK – The Grady cross country teams were in Lubbock on Monday competing in the Region I 1A Cross County Championship at Mae Simmons Park. The Grady girls team punched their ticket to the State cross country meet with a fourth place team finish in a tough region.
Garden City’s varsity girls cross country team finished second at the district contest. The varsity girls competed Tuesday at the Region II meet in San Angelo and Emy Schwartz qualified for state.

Schwartz is headed back to state cross country meet

SAN ANGELO – The Garden City cross country runners were in San Angelo on Tuesday competing in the Region II 1A Cross County Championship at Angelo State University. The Lady Bearkats ran the 3200 meter course and finished 8th overall.

Junior Buffaloes start playoffs Saturday

GREENWOOD – The Stanton Buffaloes wrapped up their regular season of the Power 5 Sports League against the Greenwood Rangers at J.M. King Memorial Stadium in Greenwood. Stanton’s Flag team struggled against Greenwood losing 36-0. MVP was Rylan Rodriguez.

GRADY – Garden City came up short in its District 7-1A football game against Grady on Friday at M.W. Tunnel Field in Grady. The Wildcats got off to a hot start putting Garden City in a 16-0 hole early.
