Martin County to test tornado siren July 2

MARTIN COUNTY Martin County residents can expect to hear the county’s tornado siren blaring next week, but there’s no cause for alarm.

GLASSCOCK COUNTY Glasscock County ISD has officially promoted Clayton Fryar to be the district’s new head football coach and athletic director, following the resignation of Jeff Jones at the end of the school year. The promotion was approved by the school board during its June 10 meeting.

STANTON - The Stanton high School Class of 1975 will be celebrating their 50th Class Reunion this year at Old Settlers. They graduated with 41 students, and five classmates are deceased. They are expecting 20 this year as they celebrate their 50th.

STANTON - The First Responder Families of West Texas will be hosting the inaugural Danny Ireton Memorial Golf Tournament presented by Cattle Cox Company on Aug. 8 at Ratliff Ranch in Odessa.The tournament will be a four-man scramble with prizes for top teams, closest to pin and longest drive.

Truck driver dies after running over himself in Martin County crash

MARTIN COUNTY - A man died Tuesday morning in a crash in rural Martin County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. The crash happened just before 11 a.m. on County Road D5100, west of Stanton.

Community complex to host grand opening next weekend; event calendar now open

- Martin County is set to celebrate the official opening of its brand-new community complex, capping off a nearly three-year construction project that’s already brought in crowds, agility dogs and roping horses.The public is invited to the grand opening celebration on Saturday, June 28 from 11 a.m.
