Martin County stays ready as winter storm spares region major impact
After the winter storm blew in, Martin County Messenger owner and editor David Butler — with a help from his son Evan — put his snow day to good use sculpting a dolphin from the snow. The duo also did a 21-foot alligator named Argo.
While much of West Texas braced for icy roads and freezing temperatures last week, Martin County stayed ready — thanks to the efforts of the county’s Emergency Management Division, led by Sheriff’s Office Capt. Chase Stiles.
Although the storm didn’t cause widespread outages or shelter needs, Stiles said they weren't taking any chances.
