Former Stanton student begins pro baseball journey as 71st pick in MLB Draft
Ryan Peterson signs with the Miami Marlins after being selected 71st overall in the 2026 MLB Draft. Peterson, who lived in Stanton until after the seventh grade and whose father, John Peterson, served as athletic director at Stanton ISD, began his professional baseball career last week at the Marlins’ player development complex in Jupiter, Florida.
