Young Bearkats gain valuable experience in season-opening loss

— The Garden City Bearkats opened the 2026 football season with a young roster and a tough test, falling to Water Valley, 63-14, Thursday night.
Water Valley took control early, scoring 37 points in the first quarter to build a 37-8 advantage. Garden City found the endzone a second time late in the first half for six more points while the Wildcats added 26 more points to end the game early.
