Wheeler, Rodriguez are keys to 2017 success

WEST TEXAS - The somber West Texas summer nights are usually filled with the peaceful sounds of locusts, coyotes and to some, even train whistles.

But come late August, for a couple hours on Friday night, the only sound that will be heard for miles will be the raucous cheering of fanatics enjoying the gridiron action.

A new season of high school football is perched on the horizon and coaches and players will soon start preparing for the long four month journey.
