STANTON – District troubles continued this week for Stanton’s varsity girls as they narrowly lost a road game to Coahoma last Friday and could keep pace with Jim Ned at home at home one Tuesday.

Stanton started slow against the Bulldogs, falling behind 14-9 after the first quarter and then trailed 24-16 at halftime.

The Buffs did not make any headway in the third period as both teams scored six points and a fourth quarter rally was on bucket short of victory as Stanton lost 37-35.

Kayleigh Villa finished the game with two points and Gabby Rodriguez scored 12.

Sarah Denson knocked down a three pointer while Mariah Brooks sank three free throws.

Natalie Taylor tossed in a snowman, eight points, while Hailea Vera Cruz scored five and Amelia Bratcher added two.

Jim Ned never gave Stanton a chance with a 44-11 victory.

Villa and Rodriguez finished with five points each and Victoria Alvizo added one.
