The West Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will be hosting two events in Odessa and Midland that are free and open to the public.

The first, HEALTHY LIVING FOR BRAIN AND BODY, will be Thursday Feb. 6, 2020 from 6pm – 7pm at the MCH Wellness Center, 8050 E. Hwy. 191, Odessa, TX 79765.

Everyone wants to live healthy, and the West Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association is inviting people to learn about research in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity and social engagement and use hands-on tools to help incorporate these recommendations into a plan for healthy aging.

The program is designed not only for caregivers, but for the general public.

The second event, UNDERSTANDING ALZHEIMER’S AND DEMENTIA, will be Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 10:30 am – 11:30 am at the Midland Centennial Library, 2503 Loop 250 Frontage Road, Midland, TX 79705. Alzheimer’s is not normal aging.

It’s a disease of the brain that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. Over 390 thousand Texans are currently living with Alzheimer’s disease, and 1 in 3 seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another dementia.

Texas ranks 4th in the number of Alzheimer’s cases and 2nd in Alzheimer’s deaths in the nation.

Again, these event are free and open to the public but you can register by calling 800-272-3900 or go online to westtexas@alz.org
