STANTON - Did you know you may be eligible for a “Welcome to Medicare” visit with your primary care provider?

Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) covers a “Welcome to Medicare” preventative visit once within the first 12 months you have Part B. You pay nothing for the “Welcome to Medicare” preventative visit if your provider accepts assignment and the Part B deductible does not apply.

This visit includes a review of your medical and social history related to your health, education and counseling about preventative services, including:

• Certain screenings, flu and pneumococcal shots, and referrals for other care if needed.

• Height, weight and blood pressure measurement

• Calculation of body mass index

• A simple vision test

• A review of potential risk for depression and level of safety

• Offer discussions related to creating advanced directives
