Grady Lady Wildcats looking good early

GRADY – Basketball season is underway for the high school and junior high Lady Wildcats.

Grady’s varsity team split its first two games with Westbrook and Ira.

In the opener against Westbrook a slow start hampered Grady’s efforts losing 33-26.

Scorers for Grady: Raegan Dennis 4, Jessi Everett 6, Samantha Griffin 6, Delaney Saunders 8, Mia Najera 2 Grady responded in a big way against Ira jumping out to a massive 20-2 lead after the first quarter and going on to win 49-15.

Scorers for Grady: Tatum North 15, Dennis 6, Emma Parker 7, Everett 7, Griffin 8, Saunders 4, Najera 2 Grady’s junior varsity had one game this week and it was against Westbrook. The ball just would not bounce the Wildcats way giving Westbrook a 17-4 victory.

Scorers for Grady JV: Addie Gray 2, Rylan O’Donnell 2 “We kicked off the season traveling to Westbrook to start the season. The games didn’t go how we wanted, but we learned some things about ourselves that will help us going forward. We bounced back on Friday night against Ira to get into the win column,” stated Grady coach Jym Dennis.

At the junior high level Grady opened the season with a superb 18-6 victory over Dawson.

Scorers for Grady: Macie Stack 4, Davalynne Mendoza 1, Brooklyn Teeters 6, Brynlee Madison 7 In their second game, the Wildcats struggled with Klondike and lost 44-6.

Scorers for Grady: Mendoza 4, Madison 2 “We started the season off with a win against Dawson. It was a good first game for the girls,” said Dennis. “In the second game we ran into a strong Klondike team. We will continue to practice and improve.”

Next up for Grady will be home games against O’Donnell on Friday. Junior varsity will play at 4 p.m. with the varsity to follow at 6:15 p.m.
