GARDEN CITY - It was a fantastic basketball season for Garden City as evident by the number of players chosen to the All-District 11-1A teams.
Senior John Lopez received the highest honor as he was named as the District 11-1A Offensive MVP by the league’s coaches on the Boys Basketball Team.
Lopez helped the Bearkats reach the Region II-1A final this season.
Four other Bearkats were named to the first team in senior Mason Walker, senior Kamdyn Roe, junior Julio Talamantes and sophomore Texas Brinkley.
Chosen to the second team were Bearkats senior Logan Seidenberger, junior Blain Walts, and junior Skyler Garcia.
Trevin Coffell, of district champion Irion County, was named the district’s MVP, while teammate Bo Morrow was the Defensive MVP. Robert Lee freshman Brenner Sherwood was named Newcomer of the Year.
For the Lady Kats, freshman Karly Baker and senior teammate Barbara Wittrein were honored as first-team selections on the All-District 11-1A Girls Basketball Team.
Senior Shelby Braden and freshman Emy Schwartz was chosen to the Second Team.
Callie Briley, of district champion Veribest, shared the MVP award with Irion County’s Melanie Rainey.
Robert Lee’s Kailey Freeman was named Offensive MVP, while Alliyah Harrison, of Veribest, was named Defensive MVP.
Robert Lee’s Ryen White was named Newcomer of the Year.
