MARTIN COUNTY - The Permian Basin Underground Water Conservation District is honored to announce to the surrounding communities their 2023 Scholarship Recipients.

The topic for the essays this year was: “In a 1,000 word essay, discuss what you can do in your community to learn, encourage and teach others to conserve and protect our water.”

The seniors who were eligible to apply and compete for the scholarships had to be students at one of the four schools in the PBUWCD’s district: Forsan, Grady, Sands and Stanton high schools. The $2,000 per student scholarships were awarded at the end of the school year to the winning recipients to go toward the college or trade school of their choice.

“We had excellent participation this year and outstanding efforts from the students who chose to work so hard toward their essays,” stated PBUWCD Edu ation Coordinator Brianna Allred. “Everyone who participated did such a great job! The staff at the PBUWCD wishes all the best with future endeavors to all 2023 graduates.”

The winning recipients of the PBUWCD 2023 Scholarship Contest are: Charles Huff from Forsan, Gage Burge from Grady, Elysa Martinez from Sands and Abbigayle Keesee from Stanton. Congratulation to all four scholarship recipients.
