– The Grady Wildcats stepped up in competition on Tuesday night battling Class 3A Coahoma on the road.
Grady did not have a good start to the game falling behind 18-11. Over the next two quarters the Wildcats did chip away at the Bulldog’s lead to trail 43-40 heading into the final frame.
Grady looked to run out of gas with its worst quarter of the night allowing Coahoma to win 54-48.
“This was a great matchup for us. Coahoma has a solid team. I was very proud of all of our kids on both ends of the floor. We struggled with their size in the first half, but did a better job defensively the second half,” stated Grady coach Chris Short. “This is the type of game that will prepare you for district and post season play. We have a tough stretch of games coming up over the next two weeks in both the Tahoka and Garden City Tournament. I am very pleased where we are after the fourth game of the season.”
Chapman Sims was outstanding with a game high 24 points. Cyle Taylor finished with five points and Patrick Weitzel added four points.
Hunter McAnally and Blake Parker scored two points each and Hagan O’Donnell contributed one point.
