Bearkat Buddies program builds bonds between older and younger students
A Garden City High School senior chats with a second grader as the two get to know each other through the new Bearkat Buddies program.
Tatum Braden, a Garden City High School senior and Ford Leader Scholar, recently worked to implement a new program at the school — Bearkat Buddies. The program partners juniors and seniors in the Glasscock County Student Council chapter with first and second graders in the elementary school. The older students work with younger ones once a week, reading them books and building relationships.
