Martin Ray Staub

STANTON - Martin Ray Straub (Marty), fourth generation Stanton resident, died suddenly and peacefully at his home in Stanton on June 30, 2020. He was preceded in death by his two brothers Charles Lee Straub and Baby Straub, and brother-in-law Ned Swink.

STANTON - Funeral service for Josie Deatherage, 76, of Tarzan were July 7, at Second Baptist Church in Lamesa with Pastor Dennis Adams officiating. Interment followed at Dawson County Cemetery. She died July 4, 2020 in Midland.

STANTON - Glee Ann Holcombe, also known as Memaw, a retired hairdresser and resident of Stanton, died unexpectedly in her home on June 25, 2020 at the age of 59. She was born in Stanton on Dec. 18, 1960 to Jimmy Henson and Virginia James.

Virginia Ruth Welch

ABILENE - Virginia Ruth (Ginger) Welch, age 90 of Abilene and formerly of Roscoe, died June 21, 2020 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater. Graveside services were June 24, at Fairview Cemetery near Millsap, with Joe Howard Williamson officiating.

Juanita Maxine Boughton Daniels

DENTON - Juanita Maxine Boughton Daniels, 91 of Denton, died June 29, 2020 in Denton. She was born in Stanton on March 25, 1929 to James L. and Cecile (Bryant) Boughton. She married Charles James Daniels on June 2, 1947 in Copeville. Together they raised their 10 children, and quite a few extras.

Ruben Edward Sanchez

STANTON - Ruben Edward Sanchez died June 24, 2020, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 61 years of age and was surrounded by family at the time of his death. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Ruben was one of the kindest people you could ever meet.

BLACKWELL - Billie Guy (Bill) Smith, long time Midland resident and oilfield legend died on June 10, 2020, following a short illness at his residence in Blackwell. He was born in Dublin on May 19, 1929, to Harvie and Edna Smith.

STANTON - Andres Torres of Stanton died on June 20, 2020. Visitation was held June 23 and a rosary was recited at Stanton Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral mass was June 24, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Tim Schwertner officiating. Interment followed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.

Bill Leonard

MIDLAND - Bill Leonard of Midland died peacefully surrounded by his family and pastor on June 16, 2020. He was born in Martin County, on Sept. 8, 1933, to Carl and Emma Leonard.
