Residents in Martin County and at least one person in San Angelo have been targeted in an ongoing scam in which criminals are posing as deputies with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office and asking for payment in bitcoin for fake arrest warrants.
According to Sheriff Randy Cozart, at least four people in Martin County have already fallen victim, losing tens of thousands of dollars.
