LAMESA - Funeral services for Robert Alvarez Morales, 70 of Lamesa, were Jan. 14, at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating were the Rev. Leandro Gonzales and Louis Gonzales. Burial followed at the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
He died Jan. 11, 2021, at his home in Lamesa. He was born on Apr. 13, 1950, in Raymondville.
He was preceded in death by his father, Guadalupe Morales, Sr., and his mother, Otila Alvarez Morales; his brother, Samuel Morales; his nephews, Joel Morales, Jr., and Augustine Rivas, Jr.
He was a longtime farmer with his family’s operation of Morales Farms in Martin County. He worked 13 years for Dawson County, with Road and Bridge. He loved the Dallas Cowboys. He had a passion to cook BBQ, especially Brisket. He loved all of his nieces and nephews. He was a good friend to many.
He is survived by his sister, Ester Morales of Lubbock; his brothers, Guadalupe Morales, Jr., and wife, Simona Morales of Tarzan, and Joel Morales, Sr., and wife, Liz Morales of Lamesa; his nephews, David Morales of Tarzan, Gilbert Morales, Jr. of Midland, Cruz Rivas, Gus Rivas, and Raul Rivas, all of Lubbock, Adam Morales, and Isaac Hernandez, both of Austin.; his nieces, Elizabeth Castillo of Pearland, Sylvia Rivas of Lenorah, Norma Rodriguez of Mansfield, Connie Gonzalez, and Ester Fernandez, both of Lubbock, Lisa Torres of Midland, and Naomi Scrulark of Big Spring; numerous relatives and friends.
