ROCKSPRINGS - Lorelei Hankins died in Rocksprings, on Apr. 27, 2021.
She was born Sept. 2, 1933, at the "Old Ranch" in Edwards County to Lowell F. and Sarah Boutwell Hankins. She attended school in Rocksprings, and then Texas Tech University where she was a member of the TTU Rodeo Team.
She developed a love of ranching and livestock at an early age at her Daddy's side. She ranched in Crockett, Reagan, Brewster, Edwards and other West Texas counties. She prided herself on raising high quality Rambouillet sheep, Angora goats, and beef cattle. Her horses were most special though, beginning with her first paint pony Fritzy.
Her hard work and dedication continued with the Hankins Brothers Production Sales for 34 years. She was an active 4-H leader in Crockett and Edwards counties and her horse judging teams held a special place in her heart. She was also a member of the Ozona Woman's League, Ozona United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church of Rocksprings, and a lifetime member of Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Louise Morriss.
She is survived by her two children, Kay Stewart and husband Eddie of Ozona and Cliff McMullan of Eldorado. She had four grandchildren, Lana Wagner and husband Will of Lenorah, Jake Stewart and wife Lauren of Cypress, Jess McMullan and wife Michelle of Bandera, and Luke McMullan of Crested Butte, Colorado. She had five greatgrandchildren that were the light of her life - Patton, Lorelei and Worth Wagner, Mason McMullan, and Jett Stewart. She is also survived by her favorite travelling partner, Tyne Lomax of Rocksprings, longtime employee and friend Juan Soto, and special friend Tom Maddux of North Platte, Nebraska.
Funeral service was May 2 at the First Baptist Church in Rocksprings.
Interment followed at the Rocksprings Cemetery.
