FORT DAVIS - Peggy Joyce Miles of Fort Davis passed away peacefully Saturday, June 5, 2021 at the age of 88.
Joyce was born, the third of four siblings, to Thomas Benton and Evadeen Dewett at Harris Hospital in Fort Worth, on Sept. 9, 1932. She was a 1951 graduate of Fort Worth Polytechnic High School.
She gave birth to a son, Donald Edward Miles, Jr., in 1953 and later a daughter, Christi Lynn Miles, in 1955 and raised both children in Fort Worth and Arlington, TX.
In 1980, Joyce moved from the Dallas-Fort Worth area to Fort Davis to be closer to her daughter and her family. She would spend a number of years working in Jeff Davis County for the Texas State Park at Indian Lodge and would later go on to work in the library of Sul Ross State University until her retirement.
Joyce was a 40-year member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Davis. She never missed a game, a concert, a stock show or any other event that either of her grandchildren took part in and was an avid knitter for many years. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her older

She is survived by her daughter, Christi Dillard of Fort Davis; her son, Eddie Miles of Pipe Creek, TX; her younger brother, Robert Dewett of Fort Worth; her grandsons, Luke Dillard and his wife Melissa of Lubbock and Tate Dillard, also of Lubbock and seven great-grandchildren.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
