STANTON - On July 2, 2021, Guadalupe (Lupe) Madrid died suddenly at the age of 67. She was born on Jan. 12, 1954, in Stanton, to the late Francisco and Flora (Lujan) Madrid.
She was raised on a farm right outside of town, between Stanton and Midland. She had a passion for animals and always had a dog or a cat. At one time she had a huge bunny.
She attended elementary school in Greenwood and then graduated from Midland High School in 1973. One year later in November 1974 she graduated from Odessa College as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
She loved being a traveling nurse and helping people with their health needs. She worked in many states; California, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and of course Texas and worked in many different hospitals. She loved to play board games.
She is survived by her sisters Eva Johnson of San Antonio, Gloria Martinez (Jody) of Austin, and Rosa Arista (Tom) of Big Spring; brothers Frank Madrid of Odessa, Polo Madrid (Zoraida) of Denton, twin brother Armando Madrid (Liz)of Midland, and Raul Madrid (Rosemary)of Midland; sisters-in-law Maria Elena Madrid (Ben) and Connie Madrid( Richard), numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends and her companion dog, Jack.
She is preceded in death by her parents Francisco and Flora Madrid; brothers Richard Madrid, Ben Madrid, Juan Carlos (Charlie/Chuck) Madrid and brother-in-law Ben Johnson (Eva).
Visitation will be on July 8, from 1 p.m. – 9 p.m. at Stanton Memorial Funeral Home with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be July 9, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 10 a.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Madrid, Danny Arista, Tom Arista, Frank Madrid, Armando Madrid, and Jody Martinez.
