Lewis Tom Mather

TARZAN - Lewis Tom Mather 65, known by most friends and family as Tommy, died on July 3, 2021, in his home in Tarzan next to his wife Carroll Mather after a very long and courageous fight against cancer.

The family will receive friends on July 9, from 5 - 7 p.m. at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.

He was born in Marathon to John Henry and Alda Faye Mather (Powers), he spent his childhood growing up around the ranch and rodeo scene while attending school in marathon along his brother Johnny and Donna Kay Mather.

He graduated from Marathon High School and shortly after was drafted into the Army, he bravely spent time across the United States and overseas along his brothers in arms before being honorably discharged from the United States Army on May 19, 1981. He came home and spent years as a rancher in Marathon where he had three kids with his first wife.

He then Re-married to Carroll Ann Mather, they spent their time as ranchers and around Carroll’s four kids. He and Carroll would eventually move to Stanton to spend most of their later years in the cotton industry, He worked for the Tarzan Co-op for many years before taking on the position as Gin Manager, he built many strong relationships in the industry, and he was surrounded by those many great friends and family in last days.

He is survived by his wife Carroll Mather; brother Johnny Mather; sister Donna Kay Mather; two children from his first marriage, four kids he raised along with Carroll and 12 grand kids.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
