LUBBOCK - Graveside service for Shirley Dossey Covington, 84, of Lubbock formerly of Lamesa were Sept. 18, Dawson County Cemetery with Pastor Tom Heath. Arrangements were under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. She died Sept. 14, 2021, in Lubbock. She was born June 12, 1937, to Travis and Mary Louise (Therwhanger) Dossey in Klondike. She married Woody Covington Sept. 12, 1954, in Lamesa. They were married 67 years. She loved spending time with her family and cooking. Shirley was a dedicated wife, mother, Nana and will be greatly missed.
Shirley is survived by her husband Woody Covington of Lubbock; sons Richard Covington and wife Karen of Chandler, OK and Phil Covington and wife Sarah of Snyder; six grandchildren Megan Coburn (Jathan), Melissa Covington-EID, Amanda Allen (Michael), Sarah Donovan (Sean), Jenny Rogers (Hal) and Michelle Stilwell (Rowdy); and nine great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Jo Crouch and Patsy Wiley; brother, Stubby Dossey; and infant granddaughter, Everly Rogers.
